Letter sent to Church representatives on March 9, 2009

Dear Ladies ...

Lillian McCourt, Aldine Christanson, Kathy Madigan & Michele Hirschfeld

Thank You so very much for your assistance with World Day of Prayer 2009.  It was a wonderful event and such a great experience to work with all of you again!  Please take a few minutes to thank the people from your Church who participated in the Service.

Here are a few facts that I have forwarded to the Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada:

- 150 Bilingual Booklets were ordered in October 2008

- a Video – presentation on PNG was purchased for $15.00

- a large display colour Poster was purchased for $10.00

(to be shared with host parishes)

A Planning Meeting was held on February 6th, 2009 at St. John’s Hall

Church representatives were:

            - First Baptist – Aldine Christanson – 566-5078

            - St. Bernardine of Siena – Michelle Hirschfeld – 969-4281

            - St. John the Evangelist - Doreen Merkas - 693-0424

            - St. Mark - Lillian McCourt – 521-8447

            - Trinity United - Kathy Madigan - 693-2848

Material was reviewed and sections were chosen by the Churches

Music was chosen by St. John’s Choir Director, Organist & Doreen Merkas

Rehearsal was held on Thursday, March 5th at 7:00 p.m. at St. John’s Church

Video on Papua New Guinea was shown instead of a guest speaker

(all reps agreed it was an excellent tool to understand the people of PNG)

76 persons attended – all were thanked and invited to join us for refreshments and fellowship

Offerings amounted to $500.00 – most generous donation indeed!

Cheque along with pertinent forms will be mailed to Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada on Monday, March 9, 2009

Next Year First Baptist Church will be the host parish

Respectfully submitted by

St. John the Evangelist CWL Spiritual Development Coordinator

Doreen Merkas
