C.W.L. WIND-UP SOCIAL & PINNING CEREMONIES

St. John's Catholic Women's League held its Wind-up Social and Pinning Ceremonies on Monday, June 2nd, 2008, commencing at 6:30 p.m.

The evening began with everyone singing "Your Song of Love" led by Mariette Hickey playing the organ.

 

President, Cathy Gomm, welcomed all members present and guests - Sue Sushkiw, Eunice Howard, Caroline Cyrwus and Micheline McGregor.

 

The Reception of New Members and Presentation of Service Awards followed with Father Mathieu presiding over the ceremony, assisted by JoAnne Joly and Cathy Gomm.  Pins were presented to 14 C.W.L. members.  This was done in the context of a Spiritual Exercise as per the suggested Service provided by the League.  Sue Quackenbush presented the pins & Doreen Merkas presented each recipient with a pink rose.

Receiving Pins were:       

Insignia Pin  Mary Albert, Rachel Corbett, Kathleen Dagostino, Theresa Huntington, Carmelle Jones, Patricia LaPierre and Marilyn Schroeder.

10 Year Pin  Mary Catherine Egan (accepted on her behalf of Lorna Jarmovitch (sister))                    

25 Year Pin  Sandra Belanger, Linda Cameron and Lorna Jarmovitch

40 Year Pin  Ann Marie Kuula and Beatrice Spencer (accepted on her behalf by Cathy Gomm) 

50 Year Pin  Joyce Latendre

Cathy Gomm made a special presentation of Maple Leaf Service Pins to three recipients, Doreen Merkas, Mariette Hickey and Lorraine McGregor.  Sandra Belanger presented the Maple Leaf Pins and a bouquet of pink roses to each recipeint.

Congratulations to all recipients who received their Service Pins and Maple Leaf Pins!!!

Father Mathieu said Grace before a sumptuous buffet of hors doeuvres, desserts and refreshments was served.  Everyone enjoyed sharing in food and friendship as they sampled the many favourite dishes brought by all.

A joyous and meaningful evening was shared by 52 ladies of our parish.  Thank you to everyone for all their help in organizing, setting up, providing the great food and all they did to make this evening a wonderful celebration!
