HISTORY OF ST. JOHN'S CWL:
The Catholic Women's League in Falconbridge was formed in May of 1935 and the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Women's League in Garson was formed in February of 1938. In September of 1969, the two councils amalgamated to form one council at St. John's Parish.
As at February, 2007, we have 130 members in our council.
New members are always welcome! Please join us for a meeting to see what our league is all about. General meetings are usually held on the first Monday of each month, from September to June. (Please refer to Parish bulletin to confirm meeting dates and times.)
WHO CAN BECOME A MEMBER?
General Membership: a Catholic woman 16 years of age or over may become a member, with voting privileges and with eligibility for office by election or appointment;
Associate Member: a non-Catholic woman 16 years of age or over may become a member, with voting privileges, but without eligibility for office by election or appointment.
OBJECTS OF THE LEAGUE:

to achieve individual and collective spiritual development;

to promote the teachings of the Catholic Church;

to exemplify the Christian ideal in home and family life;

to protect the sanctity of human life;

to enhance the role of women in church and society;

to recognize the human dignity of all people everywhe;re

to uphold and defend Christian education and values in the modern world;

to contribute to the understanding and growth of religious freedom, social justice, peach and harmony.

St. John the Evangelist Catholic Women's League held its annual Christmas Tea on Sunday, November 16th, 2008, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., in the Church Hall.

CRAFTS
St. John's C.W.L. members and ladies from the Parish meet in the Church Hall/Kitchen every Wednesday afternoon, from noon to 4:00 p.m., to work on crafts, quilts, etc. in preparation for the Christmas Tea. The Tea will be held on Sunday, November 16th from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
