2008 CHURCH PARADE OF REMEMBRANCE
St. John the Evangelist Church hosted the annual Royal Canadian Legion Church Parade of Remembrance on Sunday, November 9th, at the 10:30 a.m. Mass.
Twenty-two Legion Members paraded together into the Church before the Mass.
Afterwards the Legion Members and guests were served a light lunch in the Church Hall of sandwiches, cheese, pickles, coffee, tea and dessert, as well as a special cake commemorating "Remembrance Day - 2008". The tables were set with the Legion colours of blue and yellow, yellow rose bowls and red poppies.
Les Rajala, President of the Garson Falconbridge Legion Branch 336 did the honours of cutting the cake before it was served.
Thank you to all who assisted St. John's Social Committee in setting up, preparing and serving the lunch.
On this day, we remember those, both past and present, who so valiantly fought against oppression so we could enjoy freedom, especially those who gave the ultimate sacrifice of their lives. We stand to sing our beloved National Anthem and proudly proclaim O Canada!
